19 weeks 3 days

I went to the beach last week and felt like a huge blimp. I got so sunburned, worse than I ever have. It was miserable. I got sick after eating at Lambert's, the first time I threw up in my whole pregnancy. Well besides brushing my teeth, which I forgot to mention that every time I brush my teeth now I gag myself and I have thrown up a couple of times. Anyways, I think throwing up at Lambert's was a combination of the sunburn, getting too hot, and eating too much.

Today I felt you kick for the first time, or it was the first time I was positive it was a kick. It was very weird and awesome at the same time. I have felt him move for several weeks but this was the first kick.I am actually feeling like I am pregnant now. My belly is starting to look like a pregnant one and I am now wearing maternity clothes (or bottoms) most of the time. They are just so much more comfortable, I don't know why people don't wear them all the time. Josh and I still can't agree on a name. We have narrowed it down to 3 names, hope we can agree on one soon.

Me, Heather, and Neva went to the Kids Sale in Birmingham and I bought so much stuff. I said I was going to wait until my 20 week sonogram to confirm that he is a boy, but I couldn't help myself. I got tons of clothes and a lot of the big things that we needed. I also ordered his bedding from rainbee.com, it should be here soon. I am so excited to start working on his room. I have spent countless hours looking at nursery pictures to get ideas from.

Here is a pic of his bedding.

Boy or Girl????

Tomorrow I will be 17 weeks. We found out that we could go to Virginia College and get a free sonogram done. Our Dr's office will not do another sonogram until 20 weeks and I can not wait 3 weeks to find out. Me, Josh, and his mom and dad went today to the college. The lady showed us all the different parts of the baby it was really neat. We were there forever because it had it's legs crossed and then finally she said "that's a leg, that's a leg, and that in the middle is not a leg". I wish we would have recorded Josh's face it was like he had accomplished this great thing, creating a boy. I know I said before I didn't have a feeling about what it was but the past week or two Josh and I both thought it was a girl. We had decided on a name and everything. Again, I guess my instincts were off. I am very excited and nervous at the same time about having a little boy. We called everyone as soon as we got out of there. My mom doesn't know what to think, she has only ever had me. And my grandmother, which I forgot to mention, when I told her I was pregnant said it better not be a stinking boy. I believe that's because she has 10 grand kids and most of them are boys. I called her and she said she reckoned she would love it anyways :) Oh and I think Holley and Adam were most excited about it being a boy, now Aiden has a boy to play with.

This is the picture that told us IT IS A BOY!!!

16 weeks

Wow 16 week already! Things are still going great. Everyone was right, the second trimester rocks. I believe I am feeling a little fluttering but I can't be for sure. I am getting bigger everyday. I hate this stage where I just look fat and not pregnant. I am ready for the pregnant belly. It is getting harder to sleep. I usually sleep on my back and they say not to at 16 weeks. So now I am paranoid about it and I wake up every hour afraid I'm on my back(which I usually am).  I am also getting up in the middle of the night to pee. That drives me crazy, because I have to crawl over Josh. We swapped sides of the bed for a few weeks but that didn't work because I did not like his side. When Josh is on night shift I sleep great because I have the bed all to myself. I wonder if he minds sleeping on the couch for the next 5 months :). 16 week Dr's appointment was the same as last time, in and out. Everything was still good. I gained 1 and 3/4 lb. I refuse to round it to 2. So far, so good going by the Dr's scale only 3 and 3/4 lbs so far. My cravings are now cubed cheese. Yes, strange I know and I am starting to eat pickles too. It's true what they say about pregnant women and pickles. Oh and I am completly obsessed with starburst.

Week 14

Today starts the beginning of my 2nd trimester. It feels like time is going by both fast and slow, if that makes any sense. During my first trimester I gained 5lbs by my scales but I am going to start going strictly by the Dr's scales from now on. I am feeling pretty good, everyone says the second trimester is the best. My face has been breaking out some and that's unusual for me, but other than that things are great. I bought some maternity clothes today and I can't wait until I am big enough to start wearing them. I still don't really feel pregnant. I thought it would hit me when I heard the heartbeat and seen the sonogram, but it hasn't yet. So I think once I actually get a pregnant belly and wear maternity clothes it may feel real. I am definitely rubber banding my pants now and I can tell that I am getting bigger every where. I actually filll out my jeans now. Not too long and we find out what we are having. I really don't have a feeling about what we are having. I feel like a bad mom already, I thought I was supposed to have some kind of instinct but I don't :(

12 weeks

Today is my 2nd Dr's appointment, my 12 week checkup. I was literally in the Dr's office for 10 min. We listened to the heartbeat and the Dr. said everything was normal and we were out of there. I only gained 2lbs from my last appointment I was very proud of that. I have been doing good on my eating, my appetite has not really changed any, I am craving healthier foods too. The Dr. says to only eat 300 extra calories a day which adds up to a glass of milk or half a sandwich. Let's hope I keep this up. Still no sickness, I am a lucky girl.

11 1/2 weeks

I am 11 1/2 weeks and I go back to the doctor for my 12 week check up on Friday, that's 3 months for you people that were like me that never knew why people always told you by the week instead of the month. I make it a point to say both, but I understand now why they do it, because EVERY DAY counts when you are pregnant. After about the 8th or 9th week the tiredness went away. I am not working and could sleep whenever I wanted to and it was still so miserable being that tired all the time. More power to you women that work full time and have other kids at home and go through this because I'm not sure I would survive. I have only been nauseous once in the past few weeks and it is usually after I take my prenatal vitamin. The craziest things are happening to me though. I can smell everything and that is no fun at all. I am loving chicken salad and juicy juice these days. I have laid off the mt. dew, they actually make my stomach hurt. I also tried turnip greens and I love them. I have always hated them before. Someone told me it has something to do with iron, I don't know I just found that strange. My husband is very excited that now we can go to Top Of the River and get greens. We used to fight over getting greens or fried pickles. I also refuse to eat Mexican food, which was a weekly staple in my diet before. It's not the food though,  it is the smell that gets me. I am starting to feel bigger, my pants are getting a little snug. I think I will be using the ole rubber band soon.

Our First Dr's. Appt.

The day finally arrived. We were very anxious, because we were hoping that I would be due in July and not August. Being due in August means that the chance of me getting a teaching job next year would be impossible. We met with Dr. Blair at St. Vincent's East. She gave us all the info about what to do and what not to do. Which Josh took very seriously because he stayed on my case for the next month about drinking Mt. Dew and getting an hour of exercise everyday. I decided it would be smart not to bring him to anymore appointments ;) We then went and had a sonogram. We heard the heartbeat and saw the little alien on the monitor. The lady confirmed my due date was August 18th. I was a little disappointed, but I guess God knows what he's doing, it would be great if I knew what he was doing but APPARENTLY it doesn't work that way.

The sonogram pic is really hard to tell anything. Usually they do one vaginally and she just did mine on my belly. I wish we would have had her do it the other way so you could see it better. At this time I did not realize that I would only have 2 sonograms done during my pregnancy.
