10 Months.. Fun in the Sun

Oh my! Easton Graham is on the move and enjoying his summer.

This is actually 10 months and 1 week old. Now that we are mobile it is absolutly impossible to get him to sit still for pictures.

Milestones:
  • Cruising on the furniture.
  • Starting to stand without holding on to anything.
  • His babbling had kicked up about 10 notches in the last few weeks. He has always been a talker but now even more so.
  • He signed dog.
  • He says da da all the time now and only says mama when crying or needing something.
We have been doing all sorts of fun things this summer. We have went swimming several times and now Easton has a better tan than me. Easton also went to the zoo for the first time. He didn't really care anything about it, maybe he will like it better in another year or so. We are headed to the beach next week I am excited to see how he likes it. I just hope he doesn't hate the sand. We have also had many play dates, he loves when other kids are around he just sits and watches them forever.

Ok so I am going to tell off on myself. I broke a cardinal rule. I had Easton's hair cut a few weeks ago. I really contemplated waiting until he was a year old but I just couldn't do it. It was all in his eyes and I was afraid he was going to go cross eyed ;) I felt like I was breaking the law but then I started to think, who makes these rules that we all work so hard to abide by? I mean it's my kid and if he needs a hair cut before one, well I'm going to give him one(well not me that would be a disaster). Anyways as you can tell this is how I made myself feel better about breaking an invisible law :) So here it is, pics of his first haircut. Oh and he was a very good boy!!!

9 Months......And We're Off!!!

I remembered right before bedtime that I had not take his 9 month picture and somebody was not very happy.

Weight: 20lbs 3oz
Height: 29 1/2 inch.
At this weeks visit we had to fill out his 9 month questionnaire. E seemed to be on par with all of his milestones. I have a happy, healthy baby. The Dr. gave us the go ahead to eat any table foods (mushy or chewable of course) except for honey. My poor baby got 1 shot and I thought this was a no shot visit but since he was given the flu shot at 6 months they skipped out on giving him his Hep B shot. He was a champ though, only cried for a second.

Milestones:
  • This month there has been so many milestones and it seems like they all happened at once. Within one week, Easton has learned to pull up, crawl, and stand up in his crib.  I am so proud of my little man but at the same time I know that life will never be the same :).
He actually started pulling up a week before he started to crawl. We also had to move his bed down this week because somebody figured out how to pull up in it and in the process he broke his crib mobile.
  • Easton also pretty much eats what we eat now. He has tried all sort of things. He still eats baby food often but if I have cooked something that he can eat that's what I feed him. Here are a few new things he has tried:                                                                                                                          Macaroni and Cheese
    Meatballs
    Pasta
    Green Beans
    Bread
  • He signed milk!! He also signed "more" while watching his sign language video but I can't get him to do it again. My child will do nothing on command.
  • He is starting to follow simple instructions. If I tell him to come here, he will crawl to me(most of the time). If I tell him to get his ball or his Mickey he will pick it up.
  • Changing diapers has become a nightmare. He pitches a fit every time I lay him down and he will not lay still.

All About Easton:
Easton seems to be expressing his own little personality more and more these days. He let's us know when he likes or dislikes something. When we get onto him now it hurts his feelings, of course in return hurts my feelings. He also doesn't laugh at every little thing like he used to, it takes something that is ACTUALLY funny to make him laugh.
Favorite things: rolling a ball, playing peek a boo, and he loves anything with a motor or steering wheel.
Favorite Songs: Jesus Loves Me, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Old MacDonald. He will not let you sing anything else, if you try he has a fit.
Favorite Show: Mickey Mouse
Favorite Word: "Hi" is all this child says, all the time.
E also loves to give love (mostly to women) and he is the most passionate kisser I know. By passionate I mean he grabs handfuls of hair and pulls while sucking your face off. This mommy loves her kisses but it is a good thing the good Lord gave me such thick hair or I am certain I would be bald.

8 Month Picture Walk

Ok, the teacher in me is coming out in this blog. This month instead of typing, I have decided we will just take a picture walk. E has been up to lots of no good good stuff this month:)

First Easter

Teething has been a nightmare! I would have to say this has been a pretty bad month in the fussy baby category. So here is teething at it's finest. FYI we still have no teeth ahhh!
**Fun fact for other mommies- for us, a frozen washcloth has worked the best.

This month we have tried all sorts of table foods. Everything from peaches, bananas, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. He is not very good at feeding himself yet but practice makes perfect.

Saving these for later!

                                        Standing while holding onto something.
My favorite new thing he is doing is giving love!!

His first Popsicle. He also tried ice cream this month.

Some milestones that were not captured on camera are scooting around on his bottom(backwards only). He can go in a mean circle, but still no crawling, he is trying hard though. He will go over on his knees and as soon as he gets there he goes straight to the floor. He also loves to play peek-a-boo. His favorite word this month is Hi, that's all he says. The rest of the pictures are just random pics taken throughout the month.

Hope you enjoyed our picture walk!!!!

Fish & Signs

Look at me posting before E's monthly post. You know I must be excited about something.
Saturday we went out to eat at the Cajun Steamer. Well let me preface this story by saying I have never let E eat any table food that wasn't mushy. Ex: mashed potatoes, potato soup, and mashed up sweet potatoes. I am soo paranoid about him chocking especially since he has no teeth. I joined this group through an app that I have where everyone is parents of Aug 2011 babies. So everyone has around the same age kids and it seems like everyone has been giving there kids table food. So( back to my story) I finally got brave enough and let him try some fish at the steamer. He loves it and I was very proud of myself. He loved it so much that every time I stopped feeding him so that I could eat he started signing eat. At first we thought it was a fluke but he did it several more times. We were so excited. If u have been following my blog you know we started signing when he was 4 months and I'm not going to lie, I was getting defeated. I will say that he is a bit stubborn about it. Sunday he would not sign it for me at all. I think we found the key though. Josh was feeding him yesterday and josh was also eating. Anytime josh stopped feeding E and started eating himself e would sign eat. Even though he is not doing it all the time we are still ecstatic that he has made progress. Now if he would only get some teeth :)

7 Months!!

Oh my! I know is say this every time but time is flying by so fast. I catch myself looking at newborns and thinking "oh look at the baby". I know technically E is still a baby but it sure doesn't feel that way.

Weight- 19lbs ~yes it is safe to say that I have a chunker on my hands.

Feeding- Ahh his feedings have been so crazy this month. I have played with several different things trying to get him to take his milk but I think he is about over formula. Yes I know that he needs formula and I do my best but the only time he will drink all of his bottle is first thing in the morning and right before he goes to bed. During the day I may get him to drink 2-3 oz. Maybe I should cut back on the baby food, IDK. Right now he is taking 4 bottles a day. 7oz in the morning and at night and like I said his two during the day he may drink 3 oz each. He is still eating baby food 3 times a day.

Sleeping- I don't think I will be posting this anymore because it pretty much stays the same. He sleeps through the night and takes 2 naps a day. He still doesn't nap for very long in his crib, he usually wakes up after 45 min. For his afternoon nap I usually get him up and cuddle on the couch just so he will sleep another hour. This saves us from a melt down around 6:00. Again probably not the best thing to do but I don't know how to make him sleep longer in his crib.
~ I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the time change because E is now going to bed at 8 and sleeping until 7. We actually can go out and eat after 5:00 now thank goodness. I also love sleeping until 7 as well :)

Milestones:
Not much change since last month. Especially since I didn't get finished with last months post until a week and half ago ;)
  • He is sitting like a pro now. He also goes from sitting position to tummy and pushes up on his arms so I am happy to at least see some signs for crawling. Although, I am in no hurry to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off making sure he stays out of everything.
  • He is doing better with the sippy cup but still doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in it.
  • He has added bu bu bu and da da da to his babbling. Which of course we translate as bye bye and da da.
  • He stayed in the nursery for the first time this past Sunday. He no longer wants to nap during preaching. Instead he likes to talk and scream. He also is started getting more scared of things. On this particular day he did not like the music.
I'm not sure how good Easton is going to be at making friends if he does not get over grabbing people's faces and hair. Every kid we have come in contact with he goes straight for the face and hair and most of them cry. Except for his friend Aiden and oddly enough he seems to like it, he goes back for more. They were destined to be best friends ;)

My sweet, beautiful son is starting to get a Josh Faile attitude/temper as well. And if you know Josh Faile you know that that is not a good thing ( I love you hunny:)) Today we were at the pediatricians office and he was sitting in the floor chewing on the diaper bag. Every time I reached into the diaper to get something he screamed bloody murder, like he was saying " Hey woman that's my bag, don't touch." Yep I'm in for it.

Speaking of the pediatricians office, we went because he has been broke out for 2 weeks with a rash on his back. We have come to find out that he has eczema :( The good thing is it doesn't seem to bother him.

OK now for the fun part- PICTURE TIME!!

6 Months....Already??

Wow this month has been a rough one. It started out with Josh having a week long migraine, which of course means I now had to take care of two people. We finally get Josh better(after 4 doctors visits)  and poor Easton comes down with a cold. This is the first time he has been sick and I felt so bad for the little guy. He was coughing, sneezing, and running a fever. This lasted about 4 days, at least the worst part of it, he still has a little cough. Easton started feeling better and then I caught his cold. Uggh I was miserable, but guess what, a mommy does not get sick days. Well I guess I got one because my wonderful in-laws took care of Easton for a day and let me rest. I slept for 16 hrs and boy did I need that. I started feeling better but I also caught up on all the sleep I had been missing since E was born. THEN..... you guessed it .Josh caught our cold! We are now finally all better after a month of sickness, not to mention Josh got food poisoning in the middle of all this too. Well on to Easton's six month check up. Another 4 shots for him, that's all the shots for a while thank goodness.

Weight: 17lbs 12oz.

Height: 27 in.

Feeding: 4 bottles 5oz each. Baby food 3 times a day.

Sleeping: 2 naps during the day and he sleeps from 7:00 to around 6:00 the next morning.

Milestones:
  • He is sitting up. He still topples over occasionally but he is doing a good job!
  • We just started drinking out of a sippy cup yesterday. He hasn't quite got the hang of it but we will keep working on it.
  • OH the big one.... He said Mama! I do have this recorded, I have never posted a video but I will see if I can. I know at this age they say they only babble and sometimes it sounds like familiar words but there is no denying he said mama as plain as day. He also says Hi. Again this may be gibberish but I am going to roll with it...........tried to download video and couldn't get it to work :(
  • He has also started going to sleep on his own during nap time. Before I would have to rock him or walk with him to get him to sleep but now I am laying him down awake and he goes to sleep on his own. It really wasn't all that bad training him either. The first day was no fun, he cried for an hour. The second day he cried about 25 min, the third day 15 min, and by the 4th day he laid there about 10 min and finally went to sleep. That is about what he does every time, it takes him about 10 min to get to sleep and he usually doesn't cry at all now.
  • He started sitting in a big boy car seat, he can ride in the buggy now, and he sits in a high chair. I am thankful we don't have to drag that car seat around everywhere but my little man is growing up so fast  :(
Other big events that happened this month:

Easton was dedicated to the Lord on February 5th. We were all very proud of him, he was such a good boy. Both sets of grandparents, his great grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even some cousins came to watch. It was a great day!

Then the next day February 6th, Easton had his tongue clipped. I was a nervous wreck, but again he did wonderfully. It only took about 15 min and he cried for a few minutes and it was all over. It did not seem to bother him at all.

Here he is in his hospital gown

Play date with his friends Aiden and Karsyn
First time riding in a buggy
                                                       Trying out the sippy cup
                                                     First visit to the park!!

5 Months Old: Oh the Progress We Have Made.

First I want to start out by saying how much trouble I'm in because I absolutely LOVE being at home now (if you know me you know that I hated being at home, I am no housewife) but boy do kids change your mind. Anyways here is a pic of my beautiful 5 month old.
He has found his feet. That is what he is trying to get in this pic. Bless his heart, I keep them covered up so much he is not going to know what to think when he gets to see the real things this summer.

Height: Pretty long. This is not a doctors visit month and I have not measured him.

Weight: 17lbs 2oz Again, this is by my scales so I don't know how they match up with the doctors scales.

Feeding: 5oz every 4 hrs, which = 4 bottles a day. Oh how I longed for this day!! AND baby food but I will get to that in a minute.

Sleeping: Still sleeping through the night ( I was a little worried bc people have told me once there kids started baby food they quit sleeping through the night.)  Just this week he started taking regular naps!!! I now know how important routines are. He takes two naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Order has been restored!!!

Milestones:
  • He can hold his bottle all by his self now.
  • He FINALLY rolled over(from stomach to back). You know I wrote that he rolled over once at 3 months old but never did it again. He still don't do it much, he hates being on his stomach.
  • He's trying to sit up but it usually only last for about 15-30 seconds.
  • His hand to eye coordination has developed. He goes straight for anything you put in front of him. He puts everything in his mouth and gets mad when something doesn't fit in his mouth. He can also swap objects from one hand to another, which is something I probably never would have noticed if my weekly update from parenting.com didn't tell me.
  • He can go everywhere in his walker. This gives me a glimpse of walking bc I have already had to move him away from the wall heater, the open door with stairs, and my plant he was trying to eat. OH MY! However will I do it?
  • He is still not signing yet (I don't expect him to until AT  LEAST 6 months) but he does recognize the sign for milk. When it's time to eat we show him the sign for milk before we get his bottle and he gets excited ,or if he's really hungary he starts crying when we show him the sign.
  • He cries now if he sees me leaving the room. At first it was flattering but now it's just difficult. I can't even go to the bathroom if he isn't occupied or he will start crying.
...............hmmm there is probably so much more that I'm forgetting.

Baby Food Bonanza!!!

The pediatrician told us that E should be eating 3 meals a day by 6 months so we started him off eating one vegetable at lunch time(green beans) and rice cereal for supper. He was not a big fan of them but he ate them anyways. I figured if I started with the worst he would have nothing to compare it to but I guess bad food is just bad food. FYI: I tried everything he ate and it was all pretty good except the green beans, They just needed some salt.

I read that they need to eat the same thing for 3 days in a row to make sure they were not allergic. Poor little guy was stuck eating green beans for two day and then I just felt bad. After about 4 or 5 days we started giving him oatmeal and a fruit for breakfast (I believe we did banana's first). He loved that. About a week later we were doing breakfast, lunch, and supper. He has eaten green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, mixed veggies, and corn and sweet potatoes together. In the fruit department he has eaten banana's pears, applesauce, and prunes (is a prune a fruit??). We have started mixing his bland veggies with sweeter veggies, so yes I am still making him eat green beans. He eats it all and when he wants a bite and I am not fast enough he pants like a dog, it is too funny. After he takes a bite he says mmmm, it is too cute. He is also starting to slim up some thanks to the baby food. Not that he is not just an adorable chunker, but do you know how hard it is to lift a 17 pounder in an out of the bathtub?

Info for other parents:
  • Apparently there are different labels on the baby foods that say first foods, second foods, and so on. I did not know this and bought the ones that said second foods. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but Easton ate both of them just fine so I don't really pay attention to it. If anyone knows why and it is something I should know, u just let me know.
  • PRUNES should only be given is small amounts or when constipated. I spent two days washing and putting shout on clothes that he pooped all over. And when I say all over I mean up to his neck.
He is such a good cheeser!
                                                           More baby food....
Giving daddy love....He is such a little Josh Faile
Watching football I believe. Well dad is, E is just eating his hands.
His mean ole daddy thinks this face is hilarious so he makes him mad/sad just so he can see this face.
