7 Months!!

Oh my! I know is say this every time but time is flying by so fast. I catch myself looking at newborns and thinking "oh look at the baby". I know technically E is still a baby but it sure doesn't feel that way.

Weight- 19lbs ~yes it is safe to say that I have a chunker on my hands.

Feeding- Ahh his feedings have been so crazy this month. I have played with several different things trying to get him to take his milk but I think he is about over formula. Yes I know that he needs formula and I do my best but the only time he will drink all of his bottle is first thing in the morning and right before he goes to bed. During the day I may get him to drink 2-3 oz. Maybe I should cut back on the baby food, IDK. Right now he is taking 4 bottles a day. 7oz in the morning and at night and like I said his two during the day he may drink 3 oz each. He is still eating baby food 3 times a day.

Sleeping- I don't think I will be posting this anymore because it pretty much stays the same. He sleeps through the night and takes 2 naps a day. He still doesn't nap for very long in his crib, he usually wakes up after 45 min. For his afternoon nap I usually get him up and cuddle on the couch just so he will sleep another hour. This saves us from a melt down around 6:00. Again probably not the best thing to do but I don't know how to make him sleep longer in his crib.
~ I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the time change because E is now going to bed at 8 and sleeping until 7. We actually can go out and eat after 5:00 now thank goodness. I also love sleeping until 7 as well :)

Milestones:
Not much change since last month. Especially since I didn't get finished with last months post until a week and half ago ;)
  • He is sitting like a pro now. He also goes from sitting position to tummy and pushes up on his arms so I am happy to at least see some signs for crawling. Although, I am in no hurry to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off making sure he stays out of everything.
  • He is doing better with the sippy cup but still doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in it.
  • He has added bu bu bu and da da da to his babbling. Which of course we translate as bye bye and da da.
  • He stayed in the nursery for the first time this past Sunday. He no longer wants to nap during preaching. Instead he likes to talk and scream. He also is started getting more scared of things. On this particular day he did not like the music.
I'm not sure how good Easton is going to be at making friends if he does not get over grabbing people's faces and hair. Every kid we have come in contact with he goes straight for the face and hair and most of them cry. Except for his friend Aiden and oddly enough he seems to like it, he goes back for more. They were destined to be best friends ;)

My sweet, beautiful son is starting to get a Josh Faile attitude/temper as well. And if you know Josh Faile you know that that is not a good thing ( I love you hunny:)) Today we were at the pediatricians office and he was sitting in the floor chewing on the diaper bag. Every time I reached into the diaper to get something he screamed bloody murder, like he was saying " Hey woman that's my bag, don't touch." Yep I'm in for it.

Speaking of the pediatricians office, we went because he has been broke out for 2 weeks with a rash on his back. We have come to find out that he has eczema :( The good thing is it doesn't seem to bother him.

OK now for the fun part- PICTURE TIME!!

6 Months....Already??

Wow this month has been a rough one. It started out with Josh having a week long migraine, which of course means I now had to take care of two people. We finally get Josh better(after 4 doctors visits)  and poor Easton comes down with a cold. This is the first time he has been sick and I felt so bad for the little guy. He was coughing, sneezing, and running a fever. This lasted about 4 days, at least the worst part of it, he still has a little cough. Easton started feeling better and then I caught his cold. Uggh I was miserable, but guess what, a mommy does not get sick days. Well I guess I got one because my wonderful in-laws took care of Easton for a day and let me rest. I slept for 16 hrs and boy did I need that. I started feeling better but I also caught up on all the sleep I had been missing since E was born. THEN..... you guessed it .Josh caught our cold! We are now finally all better after a month of sickness, not to mention Josh got food poisoning in the middle of all this too. Well on to Easton's six month check up. Another 4 shots for him, that's all the shots for a while thank goodness.

Weight: 17lbs 12oz.

Height: 27 in.

Feeding: 4 bottles 5oz each. Baby food 3 times a day.

Sleeping: 2 naps during the day and he sleeps from 7:00 to around 6:00 the next morning.

Milestones:
  • He is sitting up. He still topples over occasionally but he is doing a good job!
  • We just started drinking out of a sippy cup yesterday. He hasn't quite got the hang of it but we will keep working on it.
  • OH the big one.... He said Mama! I do have this recorded, I have never posted a video but I will see if I can. I know at this age they say they only babble and sometimes it sounds like familiar words but there is no denying he said mama as plain as day. He also says Hi. Again this may be gibberish but I am going to roll with it...........tried to download video and couldn't get it to work :(
  • He has also started going to sleep on his own during nap time. Before I would have to rock him or walk with him to get him to sleep but now I am laying him down awake and he goes to sleep on his own. It really wasn't all that bad training him either. The first day was no fun, he cried for an hour. The second day he cried about 25 min, the third day 15 min, and by the 4th day he laid there about 10 min and finally went to sleep. That is about what he does every time, it takes him about 10 min to get to sleep and he usually doesn't cry at all now.
  • He started sitting in a big boy car seat, he can ride in the buggy now, and he sits in a high chair. I am thankful we don't have to drag that car seat around everywhere but my little man is growing up so fast  :(
Other big events that happened this month:

Easton was dedicated to the Lord on February 5th. We were all very proud of him, he was such a good boy. Both sets of grandparents, his great grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even some cousins came to watch. It was a great day!

Then the next day February 6th, Easton had his tongue clipped. I was a nervous wreck, but again he did wonderfully. It only took about 15 min and he cried for a few minutes and it was all over. It did not seem to bother him at all.

Here he is in his hospital gown

Play date with his friends Aiden and Karsyn
First time riding in a buggy
                                                       Trying out the sippy cup
                                                     First visit to the park!!

5 Months Old: Oh the Progress We Have Made.

First I want to start out by saying how much trouble I'm in because I absolutely LOVE being at home now (if you know me you know that I hated being at home, I am no housewife) but boy do kids change your mind. Anyways here is a pic of my beautiful 5 month old.
He has found his feet. That is what he is trying to get in this pic. Bless his heart, I keep them covered up so much he is not going to know what to think when he gets to see the real things this summer.

Height: Pretty long. This is not a doctors visit month and I have not measured him.

Weight: 17lbs 2oz Again, this is by my scales so I don't know how they match up with the doctors scales.

Feeding: 5oz every 4 hrs, which = 4 bottles a day. Oh how I longed for this day!! AND baby food but I will get to that in a minute.

Sleeping: Still sleeping through the night ( I was a little worried bc people have told me once there kids started baby food they quit sleeping through the night.)  Just this week he started taking regular naps!!! I now know how important routines are. He takes two naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Order has been restored!!!

Milestones:
  • He can hold his bottle all by his self now.
  • He FINALLY rolled over(from stomach to back). You know I wrote that he rolled over once at 3 months old but never did it again. He still don't do it much, he hates being on his stomach.
  • He's trying to sit up but it usually only last for about 15-30 seconds.
  • His hand to eye coordination has developed. He goes straight for anything you put in front of him. He puts everything in his mouth and gets mad when something doesn't fit in his mouth. He can also swap objects from one hand to another, which is something I probably never would have noticed if my weekly update from parenting.com didn't tell me.
  • He can go everywhere in his walker. This gives me a glimpse of walking bc I have already had to move him away from the wall heater, the open door with stairs, and my plant he was trying to eat. OH MY! However will I do it?
  • He is still not signing yet (I don't expect him to until AT  LEAST 6 months) but he does recognize the sign for milk. When it's time to eat we show him the sign for milk before we get his bottle and he gets excited ,or if he's really hungary he starts crying when we show him the sign.
  • He cries now if he sees me leaving the room. At first it was flattering but now it's just difficult. I can't even go to the bathroom if he isn't occupied or he will start crying.
...............hmmm there is probably so much more that I'm forgetting.

Baby Food Bonanza!!!

The pediatrician told us that E should be eating 3 meals a day by 6 months so we started him off eating one vegetable at lunch time(green beans) and rice cereal for supper. He was not a big fan of them but he ate them anyways. I figured if I started with the worst he would have nothing to compare it to but I guess bad food is just bad food. FYI: I tried everything he ate and it was all pretty good except the green beans, They just needed some salt.

I read that they need to eat the same thing for 3 days in a row to make sure they were not allergic. Poor little guy was stuck eating green beans for two day and then I just felt bad. After about 4 or 5 days we started giving him oatmeal and a fruit for breakfast (I believe we did banana's first). He loved that. About a week later we were doing breakfast, lunch, and supper. He has eaten green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, mixed veggies, and corn and sweet potatoes together. In the fruit department he has eaten banana's pears, applesauce, and prunes (is a prune a fruit??). We have started mixing his bland veggies with sweeter veggies, so yes I am still making him eat green beans. He eats it all and when he wants a bite and I am not fast enough he pants like a dog, it is too funny. After he takes a bite he says mmmm, it is too cute. He is also starting to slim up some thanks to the baby food. Not that he is not just an adorable chunker, but do you know how hard it is to lift a 17 pounder in an out of the bathtub?

Info for other parents:
  • Apparently there are different labels on the baby foods that say first foods, second foods, and so on. I did not know this and bought the ones that said second foods. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but Easton ate both of them just fine so I don't really pay attention to it. If anyone knows why and it is something I should know, u just let me know.
  • PRUNES should only be given is small amounts or when constipated. I spent two days washing and putting shout on clothes that he pooped all over. And when I say all over I mean up to his neck.
He is such a good cheeser!
                                                           More baby food....
Giving daddy love....He is such a little Josh Faile
Watching football I believe. Well dad is, E is just eating his hands.
His mean ole daddy thinks this face is hilarious so he makes him mad/sad just so he can see this face.

4 Months Old!!!

4 Month Checkup = 4 shots for the little man :(

Weight- 15lbs 13oz. He is in the 56th percentile for weight

Height- 26 3/4 inches. He is in the 95th percentile for height

Sleeping- Through the night (for the most part)

Eating- 7 oz of formula every 4 hrs. We also start cereal and baby food this month, I will let you know how that goes.

This Month's Milestones
  • He is holding his head up all by himself.
  • He can now play with some toys.
  • He is laughing and babbling like crazy. I believe he invents a new sound everyday.
  • If propped up against a pillow he can pull himself all the way up.
  • He is starting to try to hold his bottle, although he still needs mommy's help :)

Not so fun moments:
  • He is grabbing at everything, which mainly consist of my hair, jewelry, and skin (and he can pinch hard).
  • Fighting sleep. He usually only does this during the day time for naps but it is so frustrating, if your sleepy just go to sleep. He will scream at the top of his lungs for like 3min and then he is out, which leads to.......
  • Nap times are almost nonexistent in the Faile household. My child will only sleep for 30 to 45 min at a time. I know I shouldn't complain since he is sleeping through the night, but I believe most kids take naps that last hours??? Easton probably naps about an hour to an hour and half a day and this is usually in 30 min increments.
  • He is no longer content sitting in his car seat while we are eating out. I hate to be the person with a screaming kid in a restaurant but I also do not plan to stop going out to eat. He has been good the past couple of time though, I have learned to pack several toys.

We are also trying to get him to go to bed at night on his own, instead of us rocking him to sleep. Most of the time he falls asleep during his last bottle anyways but there are nights that he will stay up forever. Thanks to his Grandma he got a toy for Christmas that plays music and has lights that goes in his crib. Hope this will help.

I am trying to teach Easton sign language. I have always wanted to do this when I had a kid, so I hope it works. Everything I have read says they should start around 6 months but I figured that I needed to learn the signs and incorporate them into our daily routine first. I am beginning with these- dad, mom, milk, eat, more, bath, and sleep. I can't wait until he can start manipulating his hands more and see if he is learning them.

We also had two holiday's since I wrote last, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I will post pics. Santa was very good to E. I never want to wish time away and I enjoy every moment of this age but one thing I really look forward to is Christmas when he is a little older and understands more.

The leave I was filling is over and that means I get to spend the next 7 months with my sweet baby!!! There are going to be so many big changes coming up with him, I am so glad I get to be here to see them. I felt like he didn't even know who I was when I was working. After all I was away from him more than I was with him, but don't get me wrong I am praying hard for a job next year!!

                                                        Santa brought E a Jumperoo.
He doesn't love it but I am sure he will grow too.

3 Months Old!!

We are now 1/4 of a year old :)

Feeding- He is eating 6oz every 3-4hrs (mostly every three, which leads me to ask when do they start going longer in between feedings?)
Sleeping- THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! ( with the exception of a couple nights of course).

  • We have started a night time routine with him which is bath, bottle, and then bed. It really helps, the couple of times he did wake up during the nights were the times we skipped bath time.
Milestones:
  • Of course sleeping through the night is the biggest milestone for me.
  • He has now found his hands. He gets his left hand and puts it right in front of his face and stares at it for the longest time. He also sucks on his right hand all the time and he is slobbering alot(I know those are signs of teething but I can't tell if he is or not).
  • He has started laughing out loud. Which is the only thing that could melt my heart as much as seeing him smile.
  • He is able to hold his head up for longer periods of time but he hasn't completely mastered this, I know it is coming soon.
  • He rolled over for the first time, from his stomach to his back. It just so happens that I am the only one who seen it and I can not get him to do it again. He is very good about making a liar out of me ;)

  • We celebrated Easton's first Halloween/first big holiday. He was the cutest frog ever!!! We went to our Church's Trunk or Treat but no one had milk so we opted for Milk Dud's instead.

Here is Daddy and Easton at a family reunion. This is the first time we have used the carrier. Josh got a little taste of what it felt like to carry him around for 9 months. It was hilarious watching him sit down and get up with that thing on, he looked just like a pregnant woman.

This is  Easton during some tummy time. He hates laying on his stomach.

2 Months

Wow I can't believe my little man is already 2 months (actually closer to 2 1/2 months it has just taken some time to sit down and write this). So much has happened in this past month, he is learning and doing new things everyday. He is also getting bigger every second, it is hard to look back at pics from a month ago and see how much he is already grown. I wish I could just freeze time, it is going by too fast!!

Feeding- He is eating around 5-6oz about every 3-4hrs (except during the night)

Sleeping- He sleeps anywhere from 5-9hrs

** My dear husband took him to his 2 month checkup and forgot to get his height and forgot the ounces on his weight so when I go back I plan to get those. I must say that I sent him with a list of questions to ask and he did get everyone of those answered so I can't be to mad at him.

Weight 11lbs ___oz

Milestones: At six weeks old he smiled at me for the first time. He has always done a little grin in his sleep since the day he was born but this was an actual wide awake, mommy said something funny smile. I cannot believe how much just seeing him smile makes my heart melt. It really is the little things.

At 2 months he slept through the night for the first time. He slept from about 9:00-6:00. Of course when I woke up and realized that he did not wake up I shot out of bed to make sure he was still breathing. After I got over my panic attack I was ecstatic about getting a full nights rest.

At a month and a half he spent the night away from home for the first time. We went to the Auburn game and spent the night so Easton stayed with his granna and grandad. It was hard leaving him but at the same time it was nice to get away and spend time with my hubby and friends.

Other News: I went back to work about 3 weeks ago. I am filling in for someone on maternity leave until Christmas break. I hate being away from Easton for so long but I sooo enjoy being back in the classroom. It also will make me appreciate more the time that I will get to spend with him once this is over. I really hope I get a job next year but being away for a couple months makes me realize how lucky I am to get to spend the first year at home with my son.

Easton went to the ENT doctor Thursday to get his tongue checked out. He is what they call "tongue tied". The little part under our tongue that connects out tongue to the bottom of our mouth, well Easton's is at the tip of his tongue so they will have to cut it so that he won't have speech problems. We were hoping they could do it in the office when we went but the Dr. decided that it was to thick. So we will have to do it in an outpatient center and he will be put under anesthesia. It is the most minor procedure they do so we are just going to wait until after Christmas to get it done.

5 Weeks old

Week 5

Feeding- 4oz of formula and one 5 oz bottle before bedtime.

Sleeping- At the beginning of  the week he was sleeping 4-5 hrs during the night. By the end of the night he slept 6hrs!!!

He is starting to notice things more and follow me with his eyes. His toys are becoming more appealing to him this week.

He had a fever this week and felt awful. On Monday he was really fussy and burning up, he sweat through 2 of his outfits, I felt so bad for him but the Dr. said that I could not give him anything so I felt helpless. By Tuesday he was just kind of out of it. I held him all day and he just laid there. By Wednesday he started feeling a bit better. I think his fever was brought on by his shots at his 1 month checkup.
