2 Months

Wow I can't believe my little man is already 2 months (actually closer to 2 1/2 months it has just taken some time to sit down and write this). So much has happened in this past month, he is learning and doing new things everyday. He is also getting bigger every second, it is hard to look back at pics from a month ago and see how much he is already grown. I wish I could just freeze time, it is going by too fast!!

Feeding- He is eating around 5-6oz about every 3-4hrs (except during the night)

Sleeping- He sleeps anywhere from 5-9hrs

** My dear husband took him to his 2 month checkup and forgot to get his height and forgot the ounces on his weight so when I go back I plan to get those. I must say that I sent him with a list of questions to ask and he did get everyone of those answered so I can't be to mad at him.

Weight 11lbs ___oz

Milestones: At six weeks old he smiled at me for the first time. He has always done a little grin in his sleep since the day he was born but this was an actual wide awake, mommy said something funny smile. I cannot believe how much just seeing him smile makes my heart melt. It really is the little things.

At 2 months he slept through the night for the first time. He slept from about 9:00-6:00. Of course when I woke up and realized that he did not wake up I shot out of bed to make sure he was still breathing. After I got over my panic attack I was ecstatic about getting a full nights rest.

At a month and a half he spent the night away from home for the first time. We went to the Auburn game and spent the night so Easton stayed with his granna and grandad. It was hard leaving him but at the same time it was nice to get away and spend time with my hubby and friends.

Other News: I went back to work about 3 weeks ago. I am filling in for someone on maternity leave until Christmas break. I hate being away from Easton for so long but I sooo enjoy being back in the classroom. It also will make me appreciate more the time that I will get to spend with him once this is over. I really hope I get a job next year but being away for a couple months makes me realize how lucky I am to get to spend the first year at home with my son.

Easton went to the ENT doctor Thursday to get his tongue checked out. He is what they call "tongue tied". The little part under our tongue that connects out tongue to the bottom of our mouth, well Easton's is at the tip of his tongue so they will have to cut it so that he won't have speech problems. We were hoping they could do it in the office when we went but the Dr. decided that it was to thick. So we will have to do it in an outpatient center and he will be put under anesthesia. It is the most minor procedure they do so we are just going to wait until after Christmas to get it done.

5 Weeks old

Week 5

Feeding- 4oz of formula and one 5 oz bottle before bedtime.

Sleeping- At the beginning of  the week he was sleeping 4-5 hrs during the night. By the end of the night he slept 6hrs!!!

He is starting to notice things more and follow me with his eyes. His toys are becoming more appealing to him this week.

He had a fever this week and felt awful. On Monday he was really fussy and burning up, he sweat through 2 of his outfits, I felt so bad for him but the Dr. said that I could not give him anything so I felt helpless. By Tuesday he was just kind of out of it. I held him all day and he just laid there. By Wednesday he started feeling a bit better. I think his fever was brought on by his shots at his 1 month checkup.

Weeks 3 and 4

Week 3

Feeding- This week I started weaning off breastfeeding. He was only getting about 1/2 oz to an 1oz. I breastfeed about once or twice a day and feed him 3 oz of formula every 3 hrs.

Sleeping- Still waking up every 3 hrs to eat during the night. He is starting to wake up more during the day, he is staying awake for 3 to 4 hrs at a time now.

This week we went to Boaz and watched the football game.

Daddy and Easton napping

He hasn't figured out he can just look up, he thinks he has to turn his head to see.

Week 4

Weight- 8 lbs 6 oz. He is in the 12th percentile for weight. He finally gained 2lbs since I quit starving him with trying to breastfeed.

Height- 21 and 3/4 inch. He is in the 70th percentile for heigth.

Sleeping- During the night he sleeps one 4 hr strectch and then wakes up every three hours. He is staying awake alot more during the day.

Feeding- 4 oz of formula every 3 hrs.

Went for his 1 month check up and got 1 shot and his foot pricked. He did good, he only cried for a minute.

He also started sleeping in his crib the day he turned a month old. He sleeps much better in his crib than he did in his bassinet.

2 Weeks old

Weight- 6lbs 6oz (he lost another oz)         Feeding- Breastfeeding and feeding 2 oz of formula every 3 hrs.
Sleeping- Still sleeping most of the day and waking up every 3 hrs during the night.

This week we made another trip to the pediatricians office. He had big lumps under his nipples, the doctor checked them and said that they were from hormones and it was normal. They went away by the end of week 3. His circumcision healed up this week and he was able to take his first real bath. His umbilical cord also fell off when he was 8 days old.

Two days before he turned 3 weeks old I left him for the first time to go to the Auburn game. I missed him sooo much but it was good to get out of the house and have some time alone with Josh.

Aug 26, 5 days old- we went to Boaz and had his newborn pictures made. He was a very good boy, he slept through most of it. After pictures he made his first trip to Mill Street and we ate lunch and then visited my family. By the time we got home I was worn out and hurting from going nonstop.  The next three days we stayed at home and rested. He pretty much slept through the entire first week.

Two Becomes Three

****I have not had time to blog since Easton was born so I have six weeks worth to catch up on. This is starting from the beginning.

On August 21, 2011 at 6 am my water broke, only at that time I was not so sure if it was my water breaking or not. I was in the bed semi awake and felt a gush of water (not a huge puddle like in the movies), I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I am certain that I stood in the restroom for ten minutes trying to decide if I peed on myself or if my water broke. People always say when you are pregnant that the baby can push on you bladder and make you pee on yourself, so this is why I was confused. I was not sure what to do so I went and woke Josh up (Josh was on night shift so at this time he had only been asleep 3 hrs). I told Josh that I was not sure if my water broke or if I had peed on myself, he sat up and asked me if I was having contractions, I said no so then he told me to go back to bed ( he will never live that down). I laid down for a few minutes, but of course I couldn't go back to sleep. I got back up and googled water breaking. Most everything said their would be a continuous trickle and I did not have that so I convinced myself that it did not break. I finally went back to sleep for about an hour and then got up and did laundry and cooked breakfast. Around 10:00 I woke Josh up to eat breakfast. While we were eating I told him that I was still not convinced that my water hadn't broke and that I was going to call the hospital to see what they say. The hospital told me to come in so they could check me. We made it to the hospital around 11:00 and they did a test and told me that my water had broke. At that time I was only dilated to 1 and still no contractions so they said it would probably be the next day before I would deliver. We were admitted into the hospital and just sat there waiting. I never had contractions ( that I felt) so around 9:00 pm they gave me medicine to start thinning my cervix. They then gave me an ambien and I slept until around 12:00 when they came in to give me the next round of medicine. Immediately after that I begin having contractions.

Labor and Delivery-August 22,2011
My contractions begin around 12 or 1 that night. Around 4 a.m I was hurting so the Dr. gave me some medicine to ease the pain. The medicine (I'm not sure the name) didn't really work it just made me really loopy ( I would not recommend it). At 6:30 they gave me pitocin to induce labor at this time I was dilated to a 2. About 8:30 a.m. I was in so much pain I asked for an epidural the Dr. checked me and I was dilated to 6. It took about thirty minutes for the anesthesiologist to come and give me the epidural. By this time I felt like I was ready to push. They checked me immediately after I was given the epidural and I was dilated to 9 1/2. Basically I endured all of my contractions and got the epidural just in time to push. The nurse told me that I was ready to push and I told her I wasn't ready, I had just started feeling pain free. She let me wait about 20 min since it was going to take the Dr. that long to get there. I started pushing for I would say around 15 min (I'm not real sure) and Easton arrived at 9:40. He weighed 6lbs and 13oz and was 20 and 1/2 inches.
